This Autumn, new rules will be introduced regarding towing, meaning car drivers will be able to tow a trailer up to 3500kg without a test.
What’s changing?
For those that passed a car driving test from 1 January 1997, towing trailers up to 3,500kg MAM (maximum authorised mass) will now be allowed when the law changes in Autumn. This means that car and trailer driving tests will be stopping from 20 September 2021.
What you’re currently allowed to tow varies on when you’re licence was issued. Information on the this, along with the latest updates on the rule changes can be found on the gov.uk website here.
